FAVORITE POEM PROJECT – HOUSTON:  AN ANTHOLOGY OF HOUSTONIANS’ BEST-LOVED POEMS

Is there a special poem in your life that you would like to share with others? Many of us have found a particular poem to be deeply meaningful at key moments in our lives—and we return to that poem in celebration or joy, for comfort or consolation. The Houston Poet Laureate Program sponsored by Houston Public Library and the Office of the Mayor (with funding from Houston Arts Alliance) is seeking favorite poems from people living in the greater Houston metropolitan area, for publication in a city-wide anthology. This project is modeled on former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky’s national Favorite Poem Project anthology, Americans’ Favorite Poems. If you would like to have your favorite poem considered for inclusion in the Houston anthology, use the web link below to submit: 1) your favorite poem, 2) why you love this poem, and 3) a completed applicant information form. Thank you!

Submission deadline: July 8, 2016
